Hello Faithful Readers. I have fallen WAY behind on blogging....
I will be posting "catch-up" months until I can get back on track...
October is always a busy month. I don't remember much about Octobers as a child other than the fair and Halloween. How did they get so busy for my family?
We had multiple visits to pumpkin patches where we picked out so many pumpkins I didn't know what to do with them all! We had had rides and train rides and played in corn pits. Lots of fall fun for sure! Here we are at Savannah's birthday party catching a train ride!
Of course Halloween is the big finish to October! This year my boys wanted to be SCARY!!! I was perfectly fine that my sweet 2-year-old was not on board with the new plan and he chose to be a frog. I was his princess of course. Too sweet!
Don't we make a precious pair?
Dad and Maverick were matching skeletons.
I also helped my good friend, Heather throw a surprise 50th birthday party for her husband. It was a lot of work, but a good time as well.
We got these vintage glass bottle cokes and I had my favorite cookie baker make up some cookies.
My favorite 2-year-old is posing with some pumpkins at yet another pumpkin patch. This one is just up the street from our house and we went there for pictures and to pick a LARGE carving pumpkin.
Another fun thing we did this October was take a trip down to Charleston, SC. My cousin was getting married so we decided to make it into a vacation as well. We took the boys down for a few days ahead of the wedding and explored all we could in the Charleston area. Here we are at Patriot's Point exploring the Vietnam exhibit. I was so proud of myself for actually walking through the submarine there on display. I have a little claustrophobia but was able to do it for my boys!
Here we are at the wedding! My cousin, Jenny was the Maid of Honor for her sister. Her daughter, Chloe was one of the flower girls.
The wedding was on an island that we had to take a boat to get there. The only bad thing was that we wanted to leave before the rest of the group (earlier bedtimes for this crowd) and we ended up having to wait about 1 hour for the boat to come back to the dock.....slight miscommunication, but it turned out fine in the end. I guess!
One of my favorite things about NC Octobers is the fair! I wouldn't miss it. This family of 6 is proving to be rather expensive though!! Derek had just gotten home from a business trip and was tired, so we didn't actually stay very long. I didn't get to walk through many of the vegetable and art exhibits like I would have liked to, but we'll hopefully do a little more next year!
Our budget allows the boys to play one game each. They chose very carefully!
Our gracious neighbor allowed us to project a movie on their garage door for Brighton's birthday party. It was so much fun for the kids. They had a great time and the weather was perfect!
Finally to wrap up October postings, I can't forget about our newest family member. Lexi turned one in October. She is a very sweet girl. We are fostering her for a local breeder. It will be interesting to see how we like this experience. I know we will miss her when she is away taking care of her puppies though!
Lexi wishes she was a lap dog. She thinks she still fits! Ha!
