Been a while...

So, it's been a while since we last blogged! So summer is here and I think we spend every waking hour outside doing something. The boys must be outside playing in the dirt or riding bikes, or going on walks, etc.. Here's a few pictures of our latest adventures.

Duke Gardens for family fun day!

Just a few geese from the lake. We spent memorial day at the lake for a picnic with Grandma and Nanny!

Tour de Free

So....who doesn't love free things? I certainly do. With my birthday just around the corner, I'm now cashing in on all the Birthday freebees hitting my inbox. I began the Tour de Free yesterday by hitting up Red Robin for my free Birthday burger. It also includes a free sundae for dessert, with chocolate, sprinkles, and whipped cream. You can't beat that deal. I bet they'd throw in some balloons too if you asked.

Today, I went to Cafe Carolina for my free sandwich (with purchase of a drink). I selected the BLT.
Of course, I usually have at least one moocher with me when I'm having lunch. Today, Chandler was in preschool so I only had Brighton. He's generally happy sharing just a couple bites (unless we are talking about dessert) so I gave him some of my sandwich.

I seriously considered buying a Cafe Carolina cupcake. They looked very tasty, but when I finished up my sandwich, the line had grown from like one person, to who knows how many. The line reached all the way from the register to my table.

I decided not to wait and instead continue the Tour de Free with a trip to Baskin Robbins. Here's Brighton posing with my free icecream. I selected Reese's PB cups in a sugar cone. Yum Yum!

So that's all I have for the Tour de Free. Please let me know what other free things I should sign up for so next year I can stretch it to three days!

Cruisin...

Here's a video of Chandler quickly learning how to 'cruise' on his bike! Watch him learning how to pick up his feet!

18 Months Old!

Ok, so a little late with the 18 month old post, but here it goes. Our little guy is now 18 months old. So here are the obligatory stats:
Weight: 24 lbs 7 oz (30%)
Height: 32 in (50%)
Head: 50 cm (95%)

I chose this picture because it truly does show his personality. This little guy has developed quite a personality. It consists of a very strong sense of humor, and a very strong sense of individuality. He is starting to say many different words/names. Like his brother, he will attempt to say just about anything. He says 'DaDa' really well. :)

Brighton will eat just about anything and all of it. No problems in the appetite arena for him, often eating more than his dad will eat in one meal.

The facial expressions on this child are just amazing, whether it be laughing, frowning, evil eye, squint face, bite face, etc.. He has somehow learned and mastered walking backwards. If you are trying to get him to come to you, he often will start slowly walking backwards and giggling. It's really actually pretty cute when you think about it, but very annoying when you are in a hurry!

So, Dad finally caved in an got an iphone earlier this year. I have yet to do so, but think it's cool that I can capture photos and blog from the phone. So, I intend to blog with more 'action' shots of the boys on our day-to-day adventures.

Hope all is well with everyone!

Favorite Thing Friday

So here is one of my favorite things: A Bailey Box! For those of you native Raleighites you certainly know what I'm talking about. "Every woman wants a Bailey Box (under the tree)" may ring a bell. Well, two weeks ago (4/23) when I was selected by MIX 101.5 to win a Bailey Box I was thrilled! I really only have three "real" pieces of jewelry, two of which are my wedding band and my engagement ring. What magnificent bobble would I soon be adding to my collection?? So I get on stage, pull my string out of a fake cake and receive a number.

They hand me my "Bailey Box" and I'm excited to open it. Although it is rather large for one piece of jewelry.....maybe I've won more! I rip off the red bow and tear through the black and white signiture paper only to find another leather box inside. Wow! My jewelry is so nice they've packaged it inside a leather box! I open up the leather box only to find

nothing.

Wait....this must be a mistake. I was supposed to win earrings, a necklace, a bracelet, SOMETHING!! This stinks! My Bailey Box, is exactly what it is. A BAILEY BOX. I wanted to just chuck it in the trash with the red bow and paper, but I contained myself. One of the other 25 "winners" got a trivet. Okay, at least my box is better than a trivet. Well, that's what I keep telling myself.

Needless to say, A Bailey Box is no longer one of my favorite things!

Way Back When-esday

NO....I'M NOT PREGNANT AGAIN.

With Mother's Day just around the corner I'm reminiscing about becoming a mother for the first time. I became pregnant with Chandler in July 2006, and had my first ultrasound 8/06. It was so exciting to see the life inside me (even if it just looked like a little bean at the time). Being a mother is the most challenging yet rewarding job. With my two boys it is definitely challenging at times, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. There is a quote that says with little ones the days are long, but the years are short. This is so true! My babies are 3 years and 18 months old. Time keeps marching along. My Birthday is less than two weeks away and I will continue growing older alongside my children. This phase in my life is a gift from God and I should do more to cherish it while I can. It won't last forever!
