Our Poor Cherry Tree!

Famous Last Words, "I don't want to spend all weekend chopping down the Cherry Tree!"

Back in August we had a leak in our pool that fortunately was easily repaired.  When the guy came out to detect and fix the leak he immediately noticed the Cherry tree that has grown quite large in the back corner of our yard, directly over our pool pumps and equipment.  His immediate thought was that the root system had broken the pipes.  Luckily, that was not the case, but he strongly advised that the tree come down.  I really hated to hear that because I love that tree!  It provides some great shade and is so pretty.  It also gives some privacy to our backyard oasis.  I tried to find a picture of the tree with our pool, but this is the best I could find (quickly).  Here is the tree circa spring 2008:
And here is the gaping hole left in our backyard after Derek removed it.  It looks so sparse to me!
Anyways, the tree is gone, and also one other smaller one in the opposite corner that was always dropping leaves in the pool.  Let me say that the tree looked much smaller growing in the yard than it did when we had to chop it up into 4-foot bundles and haul every piece down to the curb for pick up.  That was quite the chore!  I was working out there using our flood lights to try and get it done.  Granddaddy Bob even came over on Labor Day to help finish up.   Thanks!  I'm glad that's over with....now what to put in it's place??
